Balancing features and style is always tough, especially regarding minimalist EDC knives. But, if a designer can manage it, it makes a massive difference in the overall result, as Bestech’s VK-Void G10 — designed by Vulpex Knives — proves.

This knife is well-balanced, gorgeous and packed with excellent features and materials. It’s the perfect example of how simple does not necessarily mean simplistic. It’s also surprisingly affordable.

Low-key high-end

The VK-Void is well within Bestech’s middle range. It’s not quite a budget knife, but it doesn’t come anywhere close to the brand’s most expensive knives.

That said, it’s got a lot going for it that you might expect from a much pricier offering. However, some things might explain its approachability.

For instance, it has a liner lock, which is reliable if not commonplace. It also has G10 handle scales, which aren’t cheap, per se, but run less expensive than other materials. It also has a simple wire pocket clip that’s reliable, if not fancy.

One of the big highlights is the Wharncliffe blade, which is made from fan-favorite MagnaCut steel. It measures 2.8 inches and has a front flipper deployment (and thumb hole). It also has a ceramic ball-bearing pivot for a slick, smooth opening.

Nine-tailed fox

The VK-Void is not entirely new. It was predated by a quartet of other options, albeit with different materials and a higher price point. The four that came before had Elmax steel alongside titanium (and carbon fiber, in one case) handle scales, which jacked the price to over $250.

This new version, with its MagnaCut steel blade and G10 handle scales, is much more approachable. It still benefits from the design’s gorgeous lines and overall balance.

It’s also available in five new colorways, all different from the original four. That means you’re pretty spoiled for choice, regardless of your chosen configuration.
