Unconventional knives are not always the best in an everyday carry sense. Their strange styling and odd shapes sometimes make them more of a hindrance than a help.
But every so often, one comes along that checks both boxes and is simultaneously stylistically unique and conventionally utilitarian. Bestech’s forthcoming Taipan is one such knife.

Perhaps obviously, the knife’s primary utility comes from its blade. As far as its material is concerned, the Taipan’s blade is rock-solid.
Bestech has forged the 3.86-inch blade from MagnaCut steel, making it as sturdy and reliable as they come (and, admittedly, a bit trendy). It also has dual deployment options — a thumb hole and a front flipper — adding some convenience.
The steep drop-off of the tip retains the piercing point but also makes the blade less likely to break under pressure.
