Bestech’s new Clastic runs wild with the tanto silhouette, which is pretty eye-popping already.

If you are looking to spice up your knife life, I just want to say one word to you. Just one word. Are you listening? Clastic.

The Clastic’s blade is a bold 3.64 inches of tough, edge-retaining, corrosion-resistant MagnaCut steel, a combo of length and quality that’s hard to beat.

In addition to reminding us of a fantastic line from a classic film, it’s the moniker of a new knife from Bestech with a pretty attention-seizing blade shape. Just look…

Unique as the Clastic’s angles are, Bestech would not waste MagnaCut steel on a blade shape that couldn’t deliver.

Now, what do we even call this particular outline? It’s basically a bizarro take on a tanto, a Samurai-based blade that angles sharply up near the tip, not near the handle.

But just because its design makes us look twice doesn’t mean it’s not all business. After all, the Clastico’s blade is a bold 3.64 inches of tough, edge-retaining, corrosion-resistant MagnaCut steel, a combo of length and quality that’s hard to beat.

Another notable element here is the titanium handle, which looks a bit slim in comparison to that big bold blade. Whether the intent is aesthetic or functional, the latter quality is undeniable.

Not unlike Civivi’s Hid, these dimensions provide clearance for the knuckles when doing any sort of a cutting on a board — improving the food-slicing experience, among other things.

The knife is deployed via ambidextrous thumb studs, pivoting on a ceramic ball bearing, and held in place via a frame lock on the off-side. The non-reversible pocket clip is sculpted from titanium.

The overall length is 8.54 inches, the folded length is 4.92 inches, and the knife weighs 4.66 ounces.

Half-folded, the Clastic resembles a crocodile, but even that aggro blade-to-handle ratio serves a purpose.

Perhaps most impressive of all, however, is the fact the designer, James Arnold of Horizon Machine Works, is just 18 years old.

That makes him even younger than Dustin Hoffman’s fresh-faced Benjamin Braddock in The Graduate — and yet for him, there’s already a great future in Clastic. Think about it.
