With iconic offerings like the Bugout and Griptilian and its Lifesharp free blade sharpening program, Benchmade has long ranked as one of our favorite EDC knife brands. But the Oregon-based brand doesn’t just make folding pocket knives. Benchmade’s blade offerings include kitchen cutlery, fixed-blade hunting knives, automatic OTF tactical knives and more.
Now, Benchmade has entered new territory with its Water line. This brand-new collection is geared toward fishing and life on the water and includes folders, fixed blades and even dedicated fillet knives. So what exactly makes these knives ideal for use in wet environments? Let’s get into it.

Non-Slip Grips and Corrosion-Resistant Blades
Benchmade says it spent years in research, engineering and field testing to craft an ideal collection of blades that can hold up to heavy use in wet environments, and the Water line is the result.
The Water line consists of four model lines and six total products, with all knives boasting the same core features. First, all of them use CPM-MagnaCut super stainless steel for their blade material. Benchmade chose this material for its supreme corrosion resistance, making it ideal for corrosive saltwater environments.

For the knives’ handles, Benchmade opted for Santoprene or Grivory — depending on the knife — in an aquatic-themed blue color. Santoprene is a rubber-like thermoplastic elastomer that provides optimal grip in wet and slimy conditions, while Grivory is a glass reinforced thermoplastic composite that is waterproof and exceptionally lightweight, making it easy to work with. All of the Water line knife handles also feature strategic ridges and cutouts to enhance their grip further.
