If you’ve ever bought a winter or rain jacket from Canadian technical outdoor brand Arc’teryx, you already know how much of an investment they can be. That makes it all the more heartbreaking should you rip or tear it, as replacing one is costly.

That’s exactly why the brand opened its ReBird Service Centers, which exist to care for and repair the brand’s existing products, helping to save your wallet (and the environment) in the process. Now, those repair centers have a powerful new tool in their arsenal, the Arc’teryx SV Insert Patch.

While the patches can be matched to your garment’s colorway, they’re also a means to make your apparel even more unique.

Quick, easy and effective

Should you have a jacket with a rip, tear or hole in it, all you have to do is bring it into an Arc’teryx ReBird Service Center (there are locations in NYC and Chicago, as well as Toronto and Vancouver in Canada) and hand it over. The techs behind the counter will do the rest — and at lightning speed, no less.

They’ll simply remove the affected spot of cloth, use a heat-activated technique to seamlessly seal the patch to your garment and then send you on your way. The brand says the whole process takes under a minute.

Better still, the patches themselves are durable, completely waterproof and can either be matched to your jacket’s colorway or purposefully contrast to give it more character and individuality.

While they come in a variety of sizes, shapes and colors, the patches also have another broader, environmentally-friendly affect. The more patches ReBird applies, the fewer jackets end up in landfills. It’s effectively a one-two punch of eco-consciousness and budget-friendliness (more on that below).

On the house

Maybe the most impressive part of the whole SV Insert Patch prospect is that Arc’teryx won’t charge you for them — they’re completely free. It’s just further proof that the fan-favorite brand is willing to put its money where its mouth is.

Of course, you have to be near a service center to take advantage. Hopefully, we’ll see the Arc’teryx ReBird service expanded to suit.
