Sometimes updates are overrated. You hear a bunch of hype about a product release, only to realize it’s just slightly tweaked or, worse, simply comes in different colors. Other times, however, the changes are significant, noteworthy and awesome. Case in point: Rad Power Bikes’ upgraded RadWagon 4, which boasts a ton of value at a price that won’t break the bank.
The new-and-improved RadWagon features a streamlined frame and smaller, wider tires designed in-house with a custom tread pattern to make the ride more comfortable, nimble and cargo-friendly. It also boasts a telescoping seat post and easily adjustable handlebars to accommodate a wide range of riders. The payload capacity is 350 pounds, the bike can go up to 45 miles per charge, and Rad offers a wide variety of accessories — from running boards and racks to baskets and bags — to make human- and cargo-hauling easier.
The biggest upgrade, however, has to do with power. For the first time, the RadWagon rocks a geared hub motor, with twice the torque of its direct drive predecessor. Drawn from Rad’s line of off-road and utility rides, this 750-watt motor provides a better experience getting going from a stop and also hauling cargo uphill.
Company founder and CEO Mike Radenbaugh (yes, that’s really his name) calls the RadWagon 4 “the raddest car replacing bike we’ve ever created.” Pre-order now directly from the brand for an expected ship date of October.
