What the Pros Were Wearing at the New York City Marathon

Marathon Sunday in New York City is one of the best days of the year. All of a sudden everyone is friendly, the streets are filled with happy people and the whole town cheers for the 50,000-plus runners that fly in from all over the world to run 26.2 miles through the five boroughs. Our team had two runners in the race, both of whom finished with stellar times.

Naturally, we were also excited to see all the new prototypes of running shoes on the elites and sub-elites as they sprinted past us this weekend. Here’s what some of the top finishers were wearing as they galloped through the race.

Geoffrey Kamworor

Geoffrey Kamworor came in first place with a time of 2:08:13 wearing the newest color of the Nike ZoomX Vaporfly NEXT% shoes.

Jared Ward

Jared Ward came in sixth place and was the first American across the finish line, with a time of 2:10:45. He raced in the Saucony Endorphin Pro, a soon-to-be-released sneaker he helped develop with Saucony’s Human Performance and Innovation Labs. While you can’t buy this shoe yet, you can buy other tried-and-true racing flats, like the Fastwitch 9.

Brendan Martin

Brendan Martin came in 26th place with a time of 2:19:52 wearing the volt color of the Nike NEXT%. Martin is a physical therapist at Finish Line PT, a popular spot for runners in New York. He competes with the New York Athletic Club.

David Kilgore

David Kilgore, a runner for On Running, came in 59th place at 2:27:59. He ran in a brand new shoe for On — the next iteration of the Cloudflow, which launches on Thursday.
