Under Armour’s Insane New Street-to-Summit Sneakers Are Surprisingly Affordable

The brand’s latest fusion of style and performance is built to tackle tough trails, look good doing it and not (totally) break the bank.

You know the difference between a good performance shoe and a great performance shoe? To paraphrase a certain man in black, a great one makes this look good. And by “this” we mean hitting the streets and the trails with equal attitude. That’s what Under Armour’s newest footwear release, the Valsetz, is striving for, and we approve.

The shoe is an update to the brand’s best-selling tactical boots, this time featuring a breathable mesh upper and stability straps that max out the comfort and aesthetics. There’s also a full-length foam midsole and lightweight TPU shank for stability and a lugged-out rubber sole for maximum traction.

Following in the proverbial footsteps of such fashion-forward hikers as the Adidas Free Hiker and Nike ACG React Terra Gobe, it’s primed to take on anything the city or the backcountry can throw your way. And while it’s not cheap, per se, you could buy two pairs for less than the cost of Free Hiker’s Gore-Tex edition — and perhaps be even more of a rugged individualist.
