The Ellis was the first EDC item that The James Brand made that you could classify as a multi-tool. It doesn’t have pliers or scissors though; just a partially serrated knife blade, a screwdriver, bottle opener and scraper. The James Brand constructs those implements from Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel, a well-rounded type that balances edge retention, corrosion resistance and toughness.
Previously, the Ellis’s unadorned handle scales were only available in anodized aluminum, but The James Brand recently revealed a new option that uses G10. Along with providing a grippy textured alternative to aluminum, the new material presents a notable addition to the Ellis line: an all-black version that’s one of the more handsome pocket knives we’ve seen recently. It’s sleek and practical with just the right touch of tactical vibes. Yeah, we’d carry that in our pockets.
