Last month, Specialized revealed the new Demo 29, an updated version of its World Cup-winning downhill mountain bike. But while that bike is perhaps geared more toward racers, the just-revealed update to its widely appealing Enduro comes with many of the same upgrades. And as with the Demo, Specialized’s goal in sprucing up the Enduro was primarily to make it faster.
Specialized approached that mission from various angles: it wanted to make the bike smoother over small bumps but resist bottoming out its suspension on big ones, and it wanted to increase a rider’s pedaling power. Toward that end, the new Enduro features 170 millimeters of suspension in the front and back and uses the new rear linkage that debuted in the Demo 29, which gives the bike an overall lower center of gravity. Those tweaks contribute to the Enduro’s ability to take on big obstacles, like rocks and roots, without bucking. Result? Fewer bumps, less braking, more speed.
The new Enduro comes in four separate builds that start at $4,410, plus a frame-only version that’s $3,200. All are made of carbon fiber come in varying sizes to accommodate your dimensions and riding style.
