Among the many qualities that have made The Rock so successful, good old-fashioned hard work has gotta be near the top of the list. And just like his signature headphones, the wrestler-turned-actor’s new training shoes are built for those who aren’t afraid to grind in the gym. Released through his ongoing Project Rock partnership with Under Armour, the second-generation PR2s are packed with powerful features, both aesthetic and structural.
On the visual side, the blood orange colorway is as bold as they come, and the reinforced midfoot sports a subtle pair of horns that always face forward to keep you charging into your next round of heavy-duty reps.
On the nitty-gritty side, the bedliner boasts a unique sandpaper-like texture to reduce slippage, so your feet stay in place no matter how aggressively your body is moving. The shoes also feature UA HOVR foam to return the energy you put in, a quick-drying soft-knit upper and “anatomical bootie construction” for a breathable, socklike fit and a beefy external heel counter to ensure that no matter how much you are squatting or deadlifting, your platform remains stable and supportive.
Suffice it to say, the PR2s are raising eyebrows in a good way. By all indications, they appear as formidable — and colorful — as The Rock himself.
