Nike’s Most Popular Running Shoe Is Now Trail Ready

Nike brings the popular Pegasus model back to the trails to give you support underfoot when the ground is less than solid.

Nike has announced its latest trail running shoe, the Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 36, which brings the storied Pegasus model back to the trails. Since its birth in 1983, the Pegasus has become a staple style among Nike-philes, though the trail model has been absent since the 2000s. It’s a stable sneaker that helps control your movement on the road, so it makes sense the team decided to bring it to the trail, where there’s more uneven terrain.

Compared to the Pegasus 35, a road running shoe we reviewed quite favorably in 2018, the Peg 36 has an entirely re-designed mesh upper that’s more breathable and ideal for draining. It has more durable patches along the toe and heel where you’re apt to get pricked with sticks and kick rocks. Nike also added Zoom Air units in the forefoot and heel to help you feel more supported during your runs. Lastly, enlarged lugs on the outsole give runners better grip on muddy trails, soft pine needle patches and the road, too.

If you’re a NikePlus member, you can shop these today; everyone else can pick up a pair of these trail runners come June 13.
