The southern coast of Britain might seem an unlikely base for a surf company, but that’s where Finisterre has built itself from a one-product brand — that one product was a fleece — into a respected promoter of sustainability in and out of the ocean. The company just released its new collection, and even though the team traveled to the coast of Senegal to showcase the goods, it stands up to the degree of rugged quality and practical style that cold water fosters.
Standout items in the collection demonstrate how Finisterre is continuing to push itself: there’s the Altum Jacket, its lightest insulated outer layer, and the Mistral Jacket, its most technical waterproof layer. Finisterre also worked with Vivobarefoot to create footwear from recycled bottles and algae-based foam. All of these things keep travel in mind and are suited to all environments, not just the improbably cold waves of the North Atlantic.
