Upshot: It’s rare that you can lace up your sneakers, walk out your door and hop onto trails. If you can, that’s awesome, but if not, you likely have to jump in your car to get to trails or head out on the road to get to the trail. Running on the road in trail shoes can be slightly challenging and annoying — mostly because of the outsole construction. And now, Adidas Outdoor wants to solve that problem with its Terrex Agravic Flow. This trail running shoe works wonders on both the pavement and trails.

Insight: Many trail running sneakers feature huge outsoles with heavy duty lugs that are immediately noticeable and bright pieces of Gore-Tex wrapped around the upper to keep shoes from getting soaked in rainy conditions. The grip underfoot — often Continental or Vibram — is extremely sticky, which is excellent when your trail turns into a rock scramble, but not as necessary when you’re running on roads. With the Terrex Agravic Flow, you get the best of both worlds. The lugs, as well as the upper, are low profile, so that you can cruise from pavement to technical trails without issue.
