Unique Features: Just 150 grams, built with Alcantara, a high-tech synthetic material typically found in Forumla One car seats, space capsules and Louis Vuitton bags.

Upshot: For serious climbers, this shoe intends to become their new go-to. It’s destined for high-performance climbs thanks to its exquisite internal construction, and it adds little to no weight when hiking into your climb since it’s less than one-third of a pound. While on the outside it looks similar to other rock climbing shoes in the same category, the thin and sock-like upper made from microfiber with a perforated outer is very advanced. Inside the toe, you’ll find Alcantara, a synthetic fiber that helps the shoe mold to the climbers’ feet. Alcantara is also used in space capsules, high-end bags like Louis Vuitton and in the seats of Formula One cars. In these shoes, it’s used to increase durability and provide a more sticky surface to help you grip more around your toes.

Who It’s For: These insanely sensitive shoes were designed with advanced rock climbers in mind.

Insight: The past Scarpa Furia was one of the softest shoes available, and the new Furia Air builds on that. The shoe was built to be one of the most responsive available to help intense climbers achieve their goals. Every single design element was thought through — from the perforated exterior to the sock-like upper to the eight-panel design, so the foot molds to your feet. The Medial Lateral Tension (MLT) holds up the sides of your foot and below, thanks to an active-tensioned rand design. Practically everything underfoot is designed to provide the climber with a better feel and fit so that the hardest part about a climb has nothing to do with your shoes.
