Leather usually doesn’t hold up well when Ol’ Man Winter puts on the hurtin’. Our recent tests with Helly Hansen’s Leather Gloves ($100) proved they are an exception, even in wet weather. Armed with Primaloft insulation, Helly Tech Protection fabric and rich goatskin leather, these durable mitts warm up quickly and keep moisture out. Don’t let the fancy material names scare you though — these aren’t meat-fisted ski slope jobbers. Instead, curved fingers and adjustable cuffs make them easy to put on and take off, while providing a decent amount of dexterity (bomb defusing is a definite no, however). Thanks to solid black coloring, they’re also subtle enough to wear with a wool overcoat, as well as more active outerwear, which we loved. As comfy as they come, this might just be our go to glove this winter. A bonus, they also dried easily after a bout with our mildly clammy hands. Don’t worry, our hearts are warm.
