One of the Best Daypacks Just Got Better

To create an awesome daypack, Mystery Ranch drew inspiration from military gear.

Hardcore outdoorsmen have always gravitated toward Mystery Ranch backpacks, but the company has found a following amongst everyday users and commuters, too. These users tend to gravitate toward smaller bags that are no less technical or rugged, like the Urban Assault daypack. The 21-liter backpack draws design cues from Mystery Ranch’s tactical military packs — things like its three-zipper design and densified shoulder straps — but also contains features suitable for everyday use, like laptop and tablet sleeves and a key fob.

The Urban Assault has already proven itself worthy of all kinds of use around town, in the mountains and beyond, but Huckberry teamed up with Mystery Ranch to make it even better. The collaboration doubles down on the functional durability that lies at the bag’s core, upping the fabric from 500-denier Cordura to an even tougher 1,000-denier version. This is the same material used to create the packs worn by US Forest Service Hotshots, who work at the front lines of wildfires to prevent their spread.

The pack also comes in an exclusive Dusty Green color and features a removable patch, just like the ones found on soldiers’ gear. It all adds up to a bag that’s discreetly more tactical, but no less capable in urban environments. The Urban Assault collab just came out, but Huckberry is already offering it up for 12 percent off.
