In 2004 CRKT released the Snap Lock, a lightweight folding pocket knife that immediately garnered acclaim and won the Most Innovative Knife Award at BLADE Show. Now, more than ten years later, CRKT is bringing back the Snap Lock.
The Snap Lock isn’t just another standard folder. Instead of the traditional upward swing, the Snap Lock uses a unique 180-degree outward motion to fold in and out of a minimal skeletonized handle. It’s an abnormal mechanism, but it makes the Snap Lock one of the most practical one-handed folders available.
Innovative opening aside, the Snap Lock is an exemplary EDC knife. Ed Van Hoy designed the knife with a 2.5-inch steel blade that’s available with a plain edge or partially serrated. Its profile is also incredibly slim — the Snap Lock weighs just 2.5 ounces — which goes almost unnoticed in a pocket, and thanks again to that sideways mechanism there’s no need for a sheath.
