If you’ve been on the internet lately, you’ve likely seen news of the Ikon Pass — and it one-ups the other passes already out there. As you’re finishing up this season (or finally getting out for a day on the slopes), the Ikon Pass is worth a look for the 2018/2019 season.

The Alterra Mountain Company owns 12 iconic year-round destinations, and they’ve expanded to connect some of our favorite destinations to ski and board with just one season pass. The Ikon Pass includes destinations across nine states on both coasts, plus four Canadian Provinces (including heli-skiing at CMH Heli-Skiing & Summer Adventures in British Columbia) and over 63,000 acres of terrain. Destinations on the Ikon Pass include mountains in Colorado, California, Wyoming, Montana, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, West Virginia and Utah, not to mention in Quebec, Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia. That’s a lot of skiing and riding any way you put it. Whether you live on the east or west coast, there is something for everyone.

Starting today, you can buy the Ikon Pass for $899 (with no blackout days) or the Ikon Base Pass for $599 (with ten blackout days). Each option offers various access from unlimited to 5-days. Considering that passes at one mountain for a day start at roughly $100 (and that’s being generous), the Ikon Pass pays for itself after nine days. And while you’re picking up an Ikon Pass for yourself, it’s easy to cover the whole family; a Child Pass is only $199 with purchase of an adult-priced Ikon Pass or $149 with the purchase of an adult-priced Ikon Base Pass, available through April 9, 2018.

But one of the best parts of the Ikon Pass is access to hidden gems that often get overlooked. If you’re looking to plan a ski vacation with your new Ikon Pass, here are five destinations worth looking into.

Tremblant

An hour and a half drive from Montreal in Quebec (or an hour and fifty-minute drive from Ottowa) and you’re transported from Canada to a quaint mountain town akin to those in the French Alps. Tremblant offers 96 ski trails and 14 lifts to keep you busy from first chair to last. The mountain is great for beginners and experts alike. While skiing or riding for a full day may make a hot tub more appealing than heading out on the town, Tremblant’s nightlife is well worth the sacrifice.

Winter Park Resort

Winter Park Resort, less than two hours from Denver, is the hub for adventure in Colorado. With seven different territories, legendary bumps and trees of Mary Jane, and iconic views from 12,000 feet at Parsenn Bowl, there’s unique terrain that fits everyone’s style.

June Mountain

California’s family-friendly destination is located southeast of Yosemite National Park. It boasts 1,500 acres with 35 trails, and 80% of them are for beginner or intermediate skiers and riders. The slow-paced mountain town overlooks the charming town of June Lake and its numerous lakes, offering stunning views from this charming destination.

Eldora Mountain Resort

Drive west out of Boulder, Colorado and in just 21-miles you’ll hit Eldora Mountain Resort. The base area of Eldora has an elevation of 9,200 feet, with a peak elevation of 10,600 feet, promising that light, dry snow Colorado is known for. This unique destination offers beginner terrain and expert terrain off the Corona lift. There’s also Wednesday night ski racing and a master’s program to help everyone achieve their Olympic goals.

Blue Mountain Resort

With 43 runs, 11 chairlifts and three freestyle terrain parks, Blue Mountain brings a lot to the table. It’s located in Blue Mountains of Ontario and is situated on the shores of Lake Huron. Ski or ride all day (and night) over six different areas. Be sure not to miss the brand new ice skating loop at the top of the mountain.
