Gerber’s latest pocket knife, the Empower, is an automatic folder designed for the everyday carry audience. A button-activated automatic opening mechanism deploys a plain edge S30V stainless steel blade, which is locked safely with a sliding switch. Gerber constructed the Empower with a false edge spear tip, making it less tactical, and ideal for everyday use. The announcement of the new knife comes in response to the easing of laws against automatic knife mechanisms and represents an effort by Gerber to offer American-made knives in every category, for every user. The Empower will be available for purchase on April 1 of this year at a retail price of $125.
