Few cities in the US are as inviting as Charleston, SC. It’s a fact. Stunning historic architecture, an amazing culinary scene, that ubiquitous Southern charm, endless adventure opportunities literally steps from the city and an average of 230 days of sunshine a year. And that beautiful warm southern sun.
When it came time to decide where to put a few pairs of Costa Sunglasses through the paces, Charleston was a natural choice. Why not go south, fish a flood tide and hang in the beguiling Southern City where the sun blasts so many days a year?
Our adventures took us into the marsh in search of redfish and around town for a leisurely meander through Charleston’s historic streets. It’s no surprise that this city has received an influx of new residents over the last few years. For those who love the water, adventures in nature and access to a thriving city scene, well, there’s just nowhere better. Don’t believe us? Pack up your rods and a good pair of shades and get there and see it for yourself.
For Fishing a Flood Tide
Costa’s Lido Frames Provide Ample Sun Protection

Costa Sunglasses has been outfitting adventure seekers for water-based excursions since the 1980s. Headed to the flats for some bonefish? Tucking up into the creeks for some flood tide fishing? Wherever the tides take you, there’s a pair of Costa frames fit for the job. All Costa lenses are polarized, which is critical for spotting fish and navigation in shallow water.
For our trip, we put the Lido frames with green mirrored polarized lenses to the test. The enlarged frames on the Lido provide massive glare and sun protection and performed perfectly on a sunny day on the water.
- Lido with Green Mirrored Polarized lenses by Costa $277
- Men’s Bamboo Lightweight Long Sleeve by Free Fly $58

Costa’s Paunch Frames Look Sharp in Tortoise Shell

Once we hit town, we switched it up to the Paunch frames in tortoise with polarized polycarbonate scratch-resistant lenses. Even with a slightly smaller coverage area on the face compared to the Lido, there’s nothing you can’t do with a pair of Paunch lenses on.
