Winter surfing in Iceland?

After over a year of production, the latest film from Chris Burkard — famous for his cold-water surfing work and expansive landscapes — is nearly here. Based on a short description of the 40-minute documentary, this will be one you won’t want to miss: “Six surfers set sail along the frozen shores of Iceland as the worst storm in twenty-five years is about to arrive. The storm blows through, shuts down the country, and turns the search for waves into a life-threatening prospect.”

The adventure photographer is asking fans to help fund the final push through production and a global film tour with a Kickstarter campaign that’s guaranteed to meet its goal. At the low end, for $15 you’ll receive an early digital copy of the film when it comes out this May. Or, if you have $8,000 to shell out, you can join Burkard next January on a six-day photography trip to Iceland, where you’ll see some of the filming locations in person. But you may want to watch the film first before signing on to that one.
