For generations we’ve relied on scales to tell us our weight. And that was all they could do. In a wearable age, when a bracelet can tell you how many calories you’ve burned, the distance you’ve traveled and your heart rate (not to mention receive calls and texts) — surely a scale should be able to do more. This was exactly Naked Labs decided when they created the Naked 3D Fitness Tracker, the world’s first home body fitness scanner.
Naked is a smart scale and mirror. You step on the scale and it rotates, taking a 360-degree scan of your body. It sends the results to Naked’s mobile app (which is Android and iOS compatible), relaying metrics like weight and body-fat percentage. This 3D body scan allows users to see how their bodies change from day to day, week to week and month to month. If you want, you can even create a time-lapse animation of your body changing over time.

The Naked 3D Fitness Tracker is compatible with Bluetooth 4.0 or your home wi-fi, and setup is simple. The mirror has a built-in laser pointer to show you where to place the scale. And because it can lean up against the wall, the mirror takes up very little space. (It’s unclear if the humidity from a shower will affect the sensors, so you may not be able to place it in your bathroom.)
Lets be clear: Naked’s “system” isn’t going to take the place of your wearable device, but it will allow you to analyze and visualize your fitness progress like never before. If you’re okay with dropping over $500, the mirror looks like a pretty cool investment.
The Naked 3D Fitness Tracker just became available for pre-order. It costs $499, plus a other $50 for shipping, and is expected to start shipping in March 2017.
