Nairo Quintana Eyes the Yellow Jersey This Season

After coming runner-up to Chris Froome last year and in 2013, the Colombian has his eyes set on besting Team Sky’s talisman at this year’s Tour de France. “We continue dreaming of the yellow jersey,” Quintana said, speaking to Velo News in Madrid. “We are concentrating on the Tour, which is what we have the greatest hopes for and have dreamed of for so long.”

Ultra Runner Susie Chan Will Attempt the 12-Hour Treadmill World Record

This Saturday January 30th, British ultra runner Susie Chan will attempt to break the longest distance run in 12 hours on a treadmill. The current record of 66.79 is held by Sweden’s Kritstina Paltén. Chan is aiming for 67 miles. In speaking with Runner’s World, Chan had this to say: “I feel a little nervous about the record attempt as it involves a lot of people who have given up their day to help me. I don’t want to let them down!”

In typical Conrad Anker and David Lama fashion, the two mega stars of the climbing world attempted a previously unclimbed peak in Nepal. The two attempted a treacherous mixed climbing route using ice axes and crampons, at times using the ice picks to cam in hairline cracks. Check out the footage of the attempt over at Rock and Ice

Niagara Falls Could Be Shut Off

The largest waterfall in North America by flow rate, Niagara falls could soon be reduced to just a trickle. In a proposal to reconstruct two bridges on the US side of the falls, Niagara could be “shut off” for as many as three years.
