LL. Bean’s iconic Bean Boots will always hold a place in our hearts as the go to shoe for truly nasty ground conditions. However during a quick visit to the Ralph Lauren Mansion over this weekend, we discovered the newly released Nansen Boot which seems built for the same bad weather purpose, while adding a touch more style. Made in Italy, these rustic all weather boots look like the type of thing English Royalty bird boys would wear while traipsing through the muck of the rainy Windsor countryside.

Completely waterproof, the bottom half of the boot is comprised of familiar rubber while the rustic hunter tweed top is made of oilcloth canvas and fully lined in faux shearling. Other rugged details include leather laces strung through attached metal rings with additional leather reinforcements to insure a tight, secure fit around the leg. Available in only three sizes of small, medium, and large, reference the Ralph Lauren site to know which range falls into your normal boot size.

While several of our city bound Gear Patrol staff may rarely find the occasion to use these Nansen boots, it isn’t stopping us from day dreaming of wearing them while 4x4ing in our Land Rover Defenders with our Purdy shotguns in hopes of finding tonight’s dinner.

Cost: $299
