Every good-looking electric motorcycle that pops up on my radar immediately elicits two conflicting reactions.

The first: Wow, that looks fast. The second: But hmm, how far can it go?

Because as awesome as electrical acceleration (and everything else that EVs promise) can be, the lingering concern is running out of juice mid-ride.

Clearly aware of such range anxiety, Estonia-based Verge Motorcycles decided to prove it can go the distance.

Toward that end, the brand’s TS Pro just set a world record for miles covered on a single charge — and now I’ve got 193 reasons to take this bike more seriously.

London hauling

To achieve this feat, the brand recruited a couple of experienced EV specialists, Sam Clarke and Sara Sloman, to ride the bike all over London.

To help certify the record, Verge also worked with vehicle management specialists Webfleet to collect data, the AA (The Automobile Association) to ensure the bike was operable and, of course, a Guinness World Record official to make the whole affair legit.

The TS Pro riders ended up logging a total of 311 kilometers (193 miles), with 7% charge remaining, making a helluva case that the Verge TS Pro will last longer than you do on the road.

The idea, clearly, was to replicate the experience of someone using the bike as an urban commuter rather than a long-distance road tripper.

Of course, traffic also provides more opportunities to recharge the battery via regenerative braking, enabling the bike to go farther than it would on the highway. (The TS Pro’s highway range estimate is 124 miles.)

Navigating London streets makes the 14-minute video documenting the feat more of a nuts-and-bolts documentary than an adrenalized action sequence, but that’s kinda the point.

After all, most of us are just two-wheeled enthusiasts trying to enjoy the ride, not leather-suited motorcycle couriers protecting a criminal witness, right?

Anyhoo, the riders ended up logging a total of 311 kilometers (193 miles), with 7% charge remaining, making a helluva case that the Verge TS Pro will last longer than you do on the road.

That’s especially true considering the fact that it can fast-charge from 0-80% in 35 minutes, meaning even an ambitious road trip can keep rolling with a reasonable lunch break.

Bike breakdown

So, beyond its battery life bona fides, what else does the TS Pro bring to the table? Here are a number of other notable traits.

Unlike other electric motorcycles, the TS Pro’s motor is built directly into the rear wheel, which not only pops visually but enables the entire body of the bike to house the battery.

The CCS charging port allows for both AC slow charging and DC fast charging — the latter can charge the battery from 0-80% in 35 minutes.

This distinctive design element both lowers the 540-pound bike’s center of gravity, enhancing its comfort and agility, but the extra space also helps make its record-setting range possible.

From a performance perspective, it also checks a lot of boxes. With a power output of 102 kW and 1000 Nm of torque, the TS Pro can go 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds. (Of course, all that happens with a flick of the throttle, no manual gear shifting needed.)

Like most electric motorcycles, it’s also packed with tech. A proprietary software and intelligence platform called Starmatter enables customizable ride modes, diagnostic monitoring, GPS navigation, seamless cellular, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth communication, AI-powered learning and over-the-air updates.

Comfort- and safety-wise, the TS Pro offers cruise control, heated handgrips, top-notch Wilburs or Öhlins suspension, Brembo brakes, ABS and traction control. Meanwhile, the 30.71-inch seat should be approachable for most riders.

The bike also comes with a rare bonus feature: a built-in extra set of forward footpegs enabling an alternative riding position.

This trait, which would be impossible on a traditional motorcycle, makes the prospect of a 200-mile ride just a bit easier for the bike’s human counterpart.

Pricing and availability

The Verge TS Pro is available now in eight colorways at a starting price of $29,900.

Verge also sells a higher-performance model, the TS Ultra, with prices starting at $44,900.
