Earlier this year, something pretty amazing happened for the first time in motorsports: an all-electric motorcycle won first place in the 2024 British Arenacross Championship. The winning rider, Jack Brunell, did it aboard a Stark Varg motocross bike, earning a jaw-dropping 34-point lead over the runner-up.

Now, a version of that very same bike — touted as the “fastest dirt bike in the world” — has entered full production. But here’s the real kicker: this new edition, the Stark Varg EX, is completely street-legal.

A different beast, sort of

While getting the motocross version of this bike was already possible, the street-legal version required some changes to keep it above board. While it still boasts the same 80hp output that makes it the most powerful Enduro bike on the market, there are some noteworthy tweaks.

Some minor alterations include adding a 4,000-lumen headlamp, patent-pending flexible optical silicone indicators and an integrated license plate holder.

But the biggest change is between the wheels. The patented “Flying V” 7.2 kWh honeycomb magnesium battery offers better cooling, higher strength, and lighter weight than the competition. Furthermore, it’s 20 percent larger than the motocross version, so you can go much longer between charges.

Born to ride

As mentioned, the street-legal version of the bike still has an 80-horsepower output and, impressively, still weighs about the same. Since it’s electric, you can access its jaw-dropping 764 ft-lbs of torque right off the line. It’s also good for six hours of riding time and requires just two hours to charge back up to full.

The brand has outfitted the dashboard with a rugged, waterproof Android phone named Arkenstone, designed to complement its power. It charges and connects wirelessly to the bike and can be detached and used as a handheld device.

Perhaps this cockpit controller’s biggest benefit is its many useful built-in features. With just a few finger swipes, you can adjust the bike’s power curve and regenerative braking. It also has built-in cameras for trail recording and a built-in, trail-ready GPS.

The bike can even update itself wirelessly, meaning you don’t have to plug it in to access new software features.

Pricing, availability and legality

The Varg EX starts at just $12,900 — under $3K more than the motocross version. It’s also legal for road use in the US, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Now that production has finally kicked off, the brand is promising deliveries starting March 25, 2025.
