Custom-built motorcycles come and go, but every once in a while, one pops up that makes you do a triple-take.

That’s particularly true with regard to Indian Motorcycle’s Forged program, which recently tapped Forever Rad to make over a Chieftain PowerPlus for Florida Georgia Line veteran Tyler Hubbard.

I swear, I’ve never been more motivated to become famous enough to have the best in the business just build a custom bike for me out of the blue than when I saw this unique beauty.

What makes it so special (beyond all that Cerakote, of course)? Let’s take a closer look.

Radical rebuild

For the record, Forever Rad went full throttle for three months to make this thing happen, driven by a singular goal.

“We wanted to showcase five years of Forever Rad Indian PowerPlus fabrication and experience as well as showcase every single product we have created or brought to market and melt people’s minds, literally,” says Forever Rad founder Kyle Bertsch.

Everything from the bars to the floorboards to the passenger pegs is a custom product you can actually buy.

“No stone unturned, every piece of this bike has been modified or changed, every bolt replaced, showcasing the true talents of the Forever Rad team, a true one-stop shop.”

He’s not kidding, as his team stripped this bike down to the frame and essentially started from scratch.

That was an essential step, as they Cerakoted as much of the bike as they could, including the entire engine and chassis.

Just like with Benchmade knives and Leatherman multi-tools, this rather en vogue treatment imbues resistance to wear, abrasion, corrosion and chemicals.

In this case, however, it may be more notable for imparting a gorgeous cerulean blue hue to the PowerPlus 112 engine, as if in tribute to its whopping 126 horsepower and 133 ft-lbs of torque.

Details galore

Of course, there are a whole lot of other custom touches, nearly all of which are introduced using parts that are available for purchase, including a bunch from Forever Rad itself.

(A notable exception here is the one-off custom exhaust pipe produced by HPi.)

“We set this bike up to be tall, aggressive and fast,” says Bertsch. “[We wanted to] take a street bike and turn it into a race bike, but keep it comfortable.”

Toward that end, this Chieftain sheds a bit of its stock curb weight of 833 pounds through a number of carbon fiber components, including the front and rear fenders.

The bike also gets a suspension upgrade, with cartridges and a rear shock from Big Bear Performance, plus a bunch of Kraus Moto parts, such as the handlebars, risers, floorboards and passenger pegs.

Additional custom elements include (but are not at all limited to) Forever Rad’s Chieftain Baja LP6 headlight kit, Saddlemen slim seat, bag rail kit, air cleaner cover, derby cover, Beringer rear master cylinder conversion and rear caliper bracket.

Topping it all off is a classic custom paint job by Sik Paint’s Jason Sprengel, done in-house at Forever Rad. I suppose after three months of unbelievable custom work, they’d earned the right to look over his shoulder, huh?

Availability and pricing

This particular Indian Chieftain PowerPlus is a one-off, but you can get the stock model and build your own starting at $26,499.
