For all the top-notch motorcycles BMW makes, its GS designation probably rises highest above the pack.

Time is certainly on its side, as the brand’s 102-year-old moto division has been making some version of a Gelände/Straße (German for terrain/street) since way back in 1980.

But so are incredibly high standards, clearly on display with one of the brand’s pinnacle models, the R 1300 GS, one of the best-looking and most capable touring enduros you can find.

As gorgeous as the bike is, however, the base model is only the beginning. For true two-wheeled extravagance, feast your eyes on the upgrade known as the R 1300 GS Option 719 Biscaya.

Gold standard

From tip to tail, this bike is festooned with details that stake its claim as truly exclusive, borderline decadent all-road royalty.

The first one to meet the eye is the golden cross-spoked wheels, soon to be joined by the golden handlebars, two elements that are unmistakably luxe.

These are only somewhat ironic considering that if you ride the bike right, the former will soon be covered with dust, dirt and other adventure-borne debris.

Take a closer look and you may pick up on the fact that Option 719 also boasts number of milled aluminum parts with a shadow finish.

Such parts include the hand lever, the cover of the liquid tank on the handbrake fitting and clutch lever fitting, the cover clasps over the spark plugs on the valve covers and the front pegs and foot levers.

The aluminum tank, meanwhile, gets a deep Blue Metallic coat of paint, accented by the GS branding, which manifests with a glorious golden-hued outline.

The two airbox covers get a matte clear coat, while the central fuel tank cover, an extension of the seat, is upholstered with a gray and black cover featuring the Option 719 emblem.

Princely performance

It’s important to note that not all the upgrades are aesthetic, as this edition of the bike also boasts boosts to comfort and control.

Toward that end, the package includes comfort seats, comfort passenger footrests, a center stand and electrically adjustable windscreen.

It also packs the latest generation of BMW’s Dynamic Suspension Adjustment system.

Called DSA for short, this feature electronically adjusts the damping and spring rates of the suspension, enabling it to adapt to different riding modes, behaviors and conditions and ultimately resulting in a smoother and safer journey.

Not unlike the aforementioned aesthetic touches, these functional features carry a sense of class that might lead you to overlook the fact that underneath all this beauty is one roaring beast of a power plant.

2026 BMW R 1300 GS Option 719 Biscaya two-up — The comfort seat and comfort passenger footrests ensure an enjoyable two-up experience — in theory, anyway.

However, one firm twist of the throttle will quickly remind you there’s a 1,300cc boxer engine making 145 horsepower at 7,750 rpm and 110 lb-ft of torque at 6,500 rpm.

It might be wearing a fine tuxedo, but trust me, this thing is to rip.

While the BMW R 1300 GS is available starting at $20,275, the Option 719 Biscaya starts at (gulp) $29,160.
