Is This Now the Best-Looking Long-Haul Adventure Motorcycle Under $20,000?

While many motorcycles fit neatly into a single box, such as “cruiser” or “scrambler” or “roadster,” plenty of others aren’t so easy to define.

However, you must look to understand one other thing: thanks to a brand-new treatment, this bike is just as vivacious as it is versatile.

Style for miles

In one way, BMW Motorcycles is a victim of its own success in that its reputation for peerless performance is so strong, it can be easy to take its bikes for granted.

That’s part of what has been so cool about the brand’s recent refresh of several models: it has gotten us to behold such bikes as the F 800 GS and R 12 with new appreciation.

The same is also true of the F 900 GS Adventure, as its new Sage Green Metallic Premium Package is an aesthetic and performance makeover for the ages.

Whereas the base model Black Storm Metallic is a pretty standard black-and-silver combo, the upgrade imparts a deep, earthy green tone to the plastic tank while integrating a sneaky, stencil-style GS logo that almost resembles camouflage.

Savvy observers may also notice an additional LED headlight, the M Endurance chain and holders for both devices and aluminum cases, visual details that carry strong functional dimensions as well.

That’s part of why this upgrade costs a couple thousand dollars rather than a couple hundred, as it would in the case of a simple hue improvement.

Going the distance

See, rolled into it is BMW’s Ride Pro package, which includes a number of features enabling you to go farther than you ever thought possible.

These include Keyless Ride and “Navigation Preparation,” essentially an integrated mount for your smartphone that enables you to maximize its powers in tandem with the 6.5-inch TFT color display.

You also get electronic cruise control, Riding Modes Pro and Shift Assistant Pro, which together make the bike more comfortable, dynamic and easier to operate. 

The aforementioned M Endurance chain is built for the long haul, as are the case holders, which enable you to add side cases to a top case for up to a whopping 120 liters of storage on the back of the bike. 

Such luxe long-distance features only stack on top of everything that made this bike great in the first place, including an adjustable touring windscreen, adjustable upside-down suspension fork, protective aluminum undercarriage guard and robust 6-gallon tank.

Let’s not forget the rumbling 895cc parallel-twin engine delivering 105hp at 8,500 rpm, 68.6 lb-ft of torque at 6,750 rpm and a top speed of 120 miles per hour.

Beyond all these other impressive trappings, that more than anything lets you fire it up, hit the open road and never look back.

Availability and pricing

The 2026 F 900 GS Adventure is available now at a starting price of $15,075. Upgrading to the Sage Green Metallic Premium Package adds $2,225 to that figure, raising the price to $18,195.
