As a sign of the times, the internet is full of memes about people leaving home then immediately turning around to get their face masks. After all, a Nature Medicine study found that if 95 percent of the public wore masks, almost 130,000 lives can be saved between mid-September and the end of February 2021. Yamazaki Home made an ingenious little box to make sure you never leave home without a mask again. Like an inverted tissue box, the face mask dispenser lets users pull out a mask from the bottom of the box without touching any other ones. And because you can stick it to almost any surface, or leave it on an entryway table, you have no excuse to be mask-less in public.

From wildfires to COVID-19, everyone is looking for an air purifier. BlueAir’s latest is targeted to those who fear the invisible viruses and bacteria in the air. While it’s not tested against COVID-19, the machine may provide peace of mind for protecting against the virus. HealthProtect uses GermShield Technology that kills viruses and bacteria on the filter, then blows out a stream of air to prevent future growth. Third-party testing found that HealthProtect can filter rooms up to 418 square feet in about 12 minutes. It may not be a guaranteed solution to protecting your home from COVID-19, but you can breathe a bit easier knowing you’re taking precautions to stay healthy.

Casper, which arguably ignited the mattress-in-a-box trend, is getting into the merch game, but for good reason. Called the Casper Rest Shop, Casper’s new store for clothing and accessories supports Win, which runs 12 shelters and 335 supportive housing units across New York City. Twenty percent of profits from each Rest Shop purchase — whether it’s the California King sweatshirt or dog hoodie — goes towards Win. So you can sleep better in your new merch and help someone else sleep better, too.

When Vitra held its recent Vitra Summit — where the brand discussed the future of art and design — Vitra announced the release of the Jasper Morrison-designed EVO-C chair. The name, a play on “evolved cantilever chair,” is exactly that — it’s made of 100-percent recyclable polypropylene and completely sustainable. It’s made by using gas injection molding technology, which makes it just as strong as comparable models made with tubular steel frames. The final product is a single-piece chair, compared to the multi-piece construction of other cantilever chairs, that is just as springy and flexible, available in fun, playful colors.

Vitra’s second chair announcement was the Tip Ton RE, an reimagining of the original Tip Ton chair. This one, like the EVO-C, is made of recycled polypropylene and is part of Vitra’s push to be more sustainable. The chair utilize a forward-tilt action that, as its product description says, “straightens the pelvis and spine and thus improves circulation to the abdominal and back muscles.” In essence, it offers the ergonomics of an office chair but also the convenience and utility of a plastic chair.
