Renowned for its folding pocket knives, Opinel is a very old company with a number of very famous admirers. Recently dropped on Food52, the brand’s latest release is a forged set of high-carbon stainless steel kitchen knives. Dubbed Les Forgés 1890, the lot includes a classic chef’s knife ($169), a santoku ($169), a paring knife ($89) and a bread knife ($159). The blades, made of the extremely stain-resistant X50CrMoV15 stainless steel used by a number of other European kitchen knife makers, sport beechwood handles and a full tang construction. They’re available through Food52 and Opinel’s site now.
