This Might Be the Most Hands-Off Charcoal Grill Ever

One of the best chef’s in the world launched a new line of things to cook with, including a charcoal grill that lights itself.

Heston Blumenthal, the owner of a pile of UK restaurants with a lot of Michelin stars, now has a line of cookware. Called Everdure, Blumenthal’s catalog is stocked entirely with grills and grilling equipment. And perhaps the most interesting of the bunch is the compact, smart charcoal (or gas!) grill called the 4K.

It can cook with charcoal, gas or wood chips and it’s got six probes monitoring temperature at every angle. Its airflow vents are labeled numerically for more precise (and replicable) airflow control. It also rocks a hands-free fire starter, which works in gas, charcoal and wood fire modes. The interior of the grill can be mixed and matched to suit most grilling needs, too — low-heat smoking, high-heat grilling, convection roasting and high-heat baking (mostly for pizza). And because all new cooking products must be Bluetooth and app-connected, it is Bluetooth and app-connected.

According to Blumenthal, it’s about mixing classic grilling techniques with today’s tech.

“The 4K really is the ultimate cooking solution for the outdoors, combining yesterday’s wisdom with tomorrow’s innovation. Its technology and cooking range is peerless,” Blumenthal said in a press release.

The 4K came out in spring of this year, but didn’t make it stateside until very recently. Check Everdure’s list of US stockists for more info.
