The Kelvin Home Coffee Roaster, put together by a team of Chicago-based designers back in 2016, can roast small batches of beans in minutes. The concept design began winning awards when it released, and won more in 2017. Finally, the svelte, compact countertop coffee appliance is taking a step toward real production — on March 28, Kelvin is launching a crowdfunding campaign. The roaster allows you to gauge what degree you want your coffee roasted and the rest is handled by the machine automatically, including chaff (dried skin of the bean) removal and a cool-down phase. There are plans to launch a subscription-based raw bean delivery service with the roaster, removing the hassle of hunting down unroasted coffee beans. It’s also just a damn pretty piece to add to your coffee arsenal.
