You probably know the home brand Thuma for its genius bed frame, appropriately titled The Bed. The modular frame can be easily assembled, disassembled and reassembled without tools … or any heartache. In recent years, Thuma’s offerings have grown to include bed accessories — like headboards, an under-the-bed storage bin, an attachable tray and more — furniture, a mattress, home goods and now bedding. At the beginning of August, the brand launched its Linen Suite Sheet Set and Percale Suite Sheet Set, making Thuma’s official debut in bedding.

“Our strategy at Thuma is to provide our customers a six-star experience, the same way they would feel when checking into their favorite boutique hotel,” Doug Shumway, Co-Founder and VP of Product Development for Thuma, writes in an email. “We have found that our favorite hotels always have the best sheets, so we wanted to provide this same level of luxury quality to our customers. We started with searching for the best materials, best supplier partners, and added in our own thoughtful details along the way.”

According to Shumway, the brand spoke with dozens of suppliers before landing on a family-owned business in Portugal that has specialized in bedding for over 70 years to make the brand’s sheets. He also said that more bedding releases may be on the horizon for Thuma.

“The Bed is the foundation of the bedroom and we feel sheets are the foundation of bedding,” Shumway wrote. “By starting with foundational pieces and expanding from there, we are able to keep a narrow focus and ensure that everything we create is of the highest quality.”

Thuma Sheets Sets, Tested: Here’s What We Thought

Each Thuma sheet set includes a fitted sheet, flat sheet and two pillowcases and comes in the color white in five sizes, ranging from twin to California King. The linen sheets go for $325 for a queen-size set, while a percale set of the same size is $225. Both sheet sets are OEKO-TEX 100 certified, which is a common certification to look out for in bedding because it means the product has been tested for harmful substances.

When I took the sheets out of the box, I could immediately tell how high quality they were. I’ve been testing the sheets for about a month and put each set through a couple of washes so I could see how they held up. Both materials have gotten softer with each wash, creating a comfortable worn-in feel, and I can just tell they’ll only get better the more worn-in they get and last a long time.

While some new linen sheets can feel scratchy and stiff, Thuma’s linen set comes pre-washed, feeling soft and ready to sleep on out of the box. Made of 100 percent European flax linen, these sheets are light and cozy, yet have the woven texture and comforting weight of quality linen. Linen can be a good option for hot sleepers, and I found these sheets to be some of the coolest and lightest I’ve ever slept on, linen or otherwise.

The percale sheets are made of 100 percent cotton and feel much smoother and more structured than the linen ones (right out of the box, at least). But as I said, they’ll get softer over time. While linen sheets tend to wrinkle (as linen does), the percale looks and feels smooth and crisp. If you’re used to sleeping on classic cotton sheets, then these are probably the sheets for you.

A small yet thoughtful detail I love about these sheets is a tag on the top and bottom sides of the fitted sheet that’ll help you make your bed without so much trial and error.

Overall, the only thing I could see someone not loving about Thuma’s sheets is the high price point. But in terms of luxury bedding, the pricing of the sheets is pretty on point. For example, the linen set in queen is $325 and the splurge pick on our guide to the best linen sheets is $385. And the percale set is $225, which is $53 less than our pick for the best percale sheets. So when you take into account the quality of the materials, plus the look and feel of the sheets, Thuma’s price tag is pretty competitive — and, I might also add, worth it.
