What CoolLife Products Are Available?
LifeLab’s new line of sleep products is a holistic approach, comprising apparel for men and women, and bedding (which, if you think about it, is like pajamas for your bed). The lineup for both men and women includes shorts ($49) and pants ($59), and tank ($39), short- ($49) and long-sleeve ($59) tops; men’s apparel is available in black and cloud (grey), while women see pale blue colorway for some pieces as well. Bedding sets ($169+) include a fitted sheet, flat sheet, and two pillowcases, and are available in white for any size bed. In addition to being comfortable and healthy, LifeLab’s sleepwear and bedding line dries rapidly and is super lightweight.
How CoolLife Works
The CoolLife fabrics reduce body temps by two degrees, helping you to achieve a non-REM type of deep sleep that’s known to promote physical and mental healing. LifeLabs calls CoolLife “the world’s first thermally/infrared-transparent fabric,” and it’s able to shuttle heat away from your body better than other performance fabrics thanks to its Polyethylene (PE) construction. You’ve probably heard of PE, which is a polymer that can be woven into fabric; it’s recyclable, and according to the Materials Sustainability Index, is “the most sustainable among natural and synthetic textiles in the world.” That translates to water savings: utilizing PE in textile manufacturing uses less energy and water than traditional materials. Cool, right?
How CoolLife Compares to the Competition
LifeLabs says the CoolLife material is more comfortable than cotton, and in terms of temperature regulation its apparel is more thermally efficient than sleeping in the nude. If you’re cross-shopping with other sheets that promise to cool you at night, like Casper’s Hyperlite Tencel Sheet, you should be aware of something called the “instant cool touch value,” or Qmax. LifeLabs sheets boast a Qmax of 0.24, which is 47 percent cooler than Casper’s bedding.
