While seemingly delicate, mouth-blown glassware is stunningly durable. Few know it — or make it — better than Simon Pearce, who has been producing hand-finished vases, glasses and bowls in the mill town of Quechee, Vermont, for decades. The studio’s latest project comes not from Pearce, himself, but rather his apprentices — all budding glassmakers in their own right. The Food52 x Simon Pearce Apprentice series features three styles of handmade, freeform glasswork — a Spanish-style wine glass ($40), Double Old Fashioned glass ($42), and 16-ounce Tumbler ($44). The raw material is infused with Barium, which contributes to the impressive clarity of the glass and casts a whitish glow in sunlight.
