Most of us have a go to tool for every job that comes across our plate. The POWER8 Workshop ($340) is a good all-in-one starter kit though for those just beginning the grail quest that is building a tool collection.
Contained within its armored stainless steel box is a drill driver, circular saw, jigsaw (no not the creepy puppet) and halogen flashlight. Thanks to a little design magic, each of these core pieces can transform into another tool counterpart such as a drill press, table saw, scroll saw, and table light – as shown by the ghosted out images above. Like many wireless tool series on the market today, every piece draws power from interchangeable 18-volt battery modules. Besides stowing the gear, the case itself features two quick charge stations for juicing up battery packs in an hour and also features a raised swivel mount and clipping area for using the table saw. If that wasn’t enough to justify its $340 price, the kit also throws in a level, protractor, push saw, table saw shield, table clamp, and two kits with all the drill bits, blades, and screws you’ll need to get the job done. The downside? Well lets just say those lovely procrastinating “I gotta go to the hardware store honey” jaunts will be a thing of the past.
