The industrial-booze complex otherwise known as the world’s liquor industry will forever be in a bit of a bind. The trouble is there’s only so many types of alcohol that exist on this earth, and no amount of aging, packaging, or flavor infusions, can change that fact. Still, the Casa Herradura Tequila brand isn’t calling it quits just yet, as evidenced by their decision to bring their popular Mexican canned Tequila cocktails stateside. Brightly packaged to catch the eye of adults and even their still crawling offspring, on the shelf, these beverages could easily be mistaken for soda. Closer inspection reveals, however, a small label on the top that says 21+… so you know this isn’t some south of the border competition to Chek or RC Cola.

Sold in four flavors includin: Margarita, Spicy Mango margarita, Batanga (tequila & coke), and Paloma (tequila & Fresca), each can has an alcohol content of 5%. All jokes aside, though, apparently these beverages are already a huge success in Mexico for the last 10 years, with over 4.5 million cases sold. While we haven’t had the opportunity to pop one open ourselves, we can definitely see some potential for these canned tequila novelties as a good alternative for non-beer lovers once the summer heat finally arrives. Particularly since we’ve tried Herradura’s tequila line in the past and walked away impressed.
