No matter how spectacular a vehicle a manufacturer makes, sometimes, the darn things just don’t sell. It may not find a good niche; it may struggle to resonate with buyers; it may be priced beyond the reach of those who are interested.
Or, in 2020, it may have just been a coupe.
Here are seven great cars we love that, for whatever reason, struggled to get off the lot in 2020.
7 Awesome Cars No One Bought in 2020
Some of our favorite cars just couldn’t catch a break last year.
The LC is a spring chicken by Lexus standards, having debuted in 2017. It looks great, feels luxurious — and it still packs a resonant, naturally-aspirated V8. Sadly, that doesn’t seem to have done much for buyers.
Why it’s being discontinued: The TT was an icon on the design front when it launched in the late 1990s with its swoopy, Bauhaus-inspired looks. But Audi is pivoting toward EVs, and TT sales — numbering in the hundreds per year by the end of its run — weren’t enough to justify its continuation.

Your basic 2020 R8 V10 will run you $170,895 (or you can wait a bit for the RWD R8 that makes 532 horses and starts at $143,595). The R8 V10 Performance starts at $196,895; my tester came packing a few options, most notably the $5,000 Sport seat package, $1,400 dynamic steering and $1,900 Bang & Olufsen stereo that helped inflate the price to $208,245.
The Nissan colloquially known as “Godzilla” is super-fun to drive. But it’s also super-old, having debuted back in the the 2007 model year. And it’s super-expensive, with an entry price higher than a brand-new Porsche 911.
The Alfa Romeo 4C was one of the best purist-friendly driving cars out there. It had an impressive power-to-weight ratio, with a 237-hp turbocharged four-pot propelling its sub-2,500-pound heft from 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds. The trouble was, the 4C was a bit too pure for most people to buy. It was loud, uncomfortable, and short on amenities. It cost almost as much as a Giulia Quadrifoglio.
