When you think of outdoor footwear, Crocs is probably not the first brand that comes to mind. However, the clog-making company has been quietly proving itself in the outdoor space for years.

Crocs’ team-up with And Wander and End. Clothing — to celebrate the latter’s 20th anniversary — is another big step forward. In a first-of-its-kind collaboration, the trio has launched the End. x And Wander x Crocs Trailbreak, an all-conditions redux of one of Crocs’ best hiking sneakers.

What a Croc

This co-branded reissue retains much of what made the Trailbreak great. That includes its chunky, rugged thermoplastic outsole, which offers plenty of grip on just about any terrain.

However, there’s one significant change: this version gets a wetsuit-inspired neoprene sock liner booty. Not only does that add some extra foot-hugging comfort, but it means your feet will stay warm even if they get wet.

As such, these Trailbreaks are ideal for summertime hikes, especially near bodies of water, like beaches, rivers, lakes and streams. You can confidently cross, even with your feet fully submerged, without worrying about discomfort or catching a chill.

Pair that with the comfort the sneakers already offer, and these could easily become your go-to summertime footwear choice.

Easy on, easy off

As with the original Trailbreaks, these neoprene-lined ones have a drawcord lacing system that makes putting them on and getting them snug super easy.

However, the sock liner also has a zippered closure that adds an extra layer of security without any serious additional difficulty. So, even when the terrain gets tough, these sneakers are still incredibly easy to wear.

Better still, if you do take them down to the beach and you want to dip your toes in the water, you don’t have to go through the difficulty of laborious unlacing and stripping yourself out of your socks to make that happen.

Furthermore, since the sock liner is neoprene, it’s just as easy to get back on again (unlike, say, hiking socks that prove far more difficult to don when your toes are a little wet).

Pricing and availability

As of the publication of this article, the End. x and Wander x Crocs Trailbreak sneakers launch in three days and under nine hours. However, they’re not going to just hit End’s site; you’ll have to enter the raffle for a chance to buy them.

If you do get your chance, they’re priced at $140, and they only come in all-black (not that this is a bad thing).
