Yeti may forever be known for its hard coolers. And in the backcountry, out at sea or simply chilling in your best friend’s backyard, waiting for a pork butt to rest, that’s probably exactly what you want.

But most of us don’t often find ourselves in those environments, as much as we might like to. So the Yeti gear we reach for most often are the Ramblers of the world — a name long associated with the brand’s bountiful drinkware collection but now expanding into food, starting with a new line of vacuum-insulated, stainless steel bowls in half a dozen sizes and heights.

According to Hannah Mara, the head of food and beverage at Yeti, the move has been a long time coming.

Fan service

“What’s really fascinating is we always look at our top search terms on a weekly, monthly basis. And what you can consistently bet on is that food always raises to the top,” Mara says.

According to Hannah Mara, Yeti’s head of food and beverage, more food gear is often the single most requested item from fans and ambassadors.

If at first bowls seem like a far cry from coolers and the spirit of the brand, the through line quickly becomes apparent upon the first use, Mara adds. And it boils down to what she calls “thermal performance” — that is, keeping stuff hot, cold or just right.

“It’s basically putting vacuum insulation into a smaller cooler format and actually using it for food.”

“You actually have to use the product to understand the magic of it,” Mara adds. “Imagine never eating soupy ice cream again or for busy parents that make food, coming back to it an hour later and it still being at a great temperature for you to eat out of.

Culinary adventures

At launch, the Rambler Bowls will be available in two heights, standard and low, each with a trio of size options — a decision that caters to Yeti’s growing global customer base and the sheer breadth of the category.

“Food in general has so many different variety of recipes and cuisines. The use cases are so versatile,” Mara says.

As with Yeti’s Rambler Beverage Bucket, which customers use for everything from serving to margaritas to sous-vide cooking steaks, Mara expects the bowls to inspire similar levels of creativity, if not more.

But even if the Rambler Bowls don’t inspire culinary adventures on the daily, they may still accomplish one thing:

“We can all stop using the Dog Bowl for ice cream,” Mara says.

Pricing and availability

The Rambler Bowls are available now for Yeti account holders, with prices starting at $30 for the smallest size.

They come in four colors, navy, white and two seasonals: orange Papaya and Cape Taupe.
