“What makes yellow special in the mountains is the absence of it.”

Thus spoke Yeti ambassador and one of the world’s great mountaineers Conrad Anker upon the release of Yeti’s first yellow collection several years ago.

Dubbed Alpine, the lineup of high-vis bottles, coolers and even dog bowls didn’t last long.

It came out in the spring of 2022 and eventually made way for other seasonal colorways, sending prices soaring on the secondhand market — where they remain sky-high even years later.

A pair of 14-ounce mugs currently goes for $95 on eBay, with the 36-ounce Rambler retailing for $74. Both prices are before shipping.

So what’s that yellow doing back on Yeti’s official website?

Double take

Ahead of summer, Yeti dropped a new collection of yellow Ramblers under the name Beekeeper, and you’d have to do a double take not to mistake them for the Alpine drinkware of yore.

No, that isn’t Alpine — at least not according to Yeti. It’s a new colorway called Beekeeper.

In fact, even if you did, you still might not be able to spot any differences.

On Reddit, several posts have called attention to the similarities between the two colors, with one user even posting a picture of their Alpine collection in a challenge to others to try and pick out the lone Beekeeper bottle.

“I’m always gonna be Alpine Yellow but I won’t lie, I can’t find the beekeeper. It’s just THAT close,” responded another Redditor, waving the white flag.

As it stands, Beekeeper looks to be exclusive to Rambler bottles and mugs, whereas Alpine extended to bags, coolers and more.

However, Yeti’s portfolio of drinkware is so vast these days, customers should have no problem acquiring a yellow vessel in their preferred size.

That said, they will still need to take to sites like eBay or Facebook Marketplace to acquire the mugs.

But hey, the good news is that at least both colors will match.

Pricing and availability

Yeti Beekeeper is available now, with prices starting at $25 for a 16-ounce stackable cup.

Technically, it’s part of the brand’s broader Gold Coast Collection and is joined by a new neon orange called Papaya.

A pack of limited-edition MagSliders containing both colorways goes for $10.
