Founded in 2017 at the height of the direct-to-consumer startup era, Made In is one the rare brand’s that made it. But calling it a “consumer-only” company might be a little misleading.
Made In specializes in high-quality pots and pans that, sure, anyone can buy. But when that anyone also happens to include the 3 Michelin-starred restaurant Alinea, along with some 2,500 professional kitchen all across the globe, you’re better off casting a wider net.
Having slowly expanded its product lineup over the years, which now encompasses everything from tableware to a viral carbon steel griddle, Made In is ready for its biggest release ever: a grill.
“It took us a while to get the guts to do it,” says Made In’s cofounder Jake Kalick, speaking exclusively to Gear Patrol, ” but we figured, ‘Hey, we’re getting pretty good at making pans. Let’s kind of jump to the heat source and see what customers think.”

Into the fire
The charcoal grill comes with a cooking surface that measures 19.6 by 10.5 inches (205.8 square inches) and weighs just 35 pounds. That makes it ideal for camping and tailgates but also positions it as a competitor to the Weber Kettle, which has dominated the portable grill market for more than 70 years.
However, the Made In Grill arrives with a few tricks up its sleeve that may give it an edge for cooks who value control and versatility.
