Even at $250, The Macallan’s Latest Scotch Whisky Feels Like One Hell of a Deal

The Macallan’s limited edition offerings are typically pure unobtanium. Not this one.

When we talk about non-standard bottles of The Macallan, usual rules of value assessment don’t apply. The Speyside distiller’s collection of limited offerings has reached retail prices well north of $50,000. Its latest bottle bucks that trend. Sort of.

The Macallan Estate celebrates the brand’s first year at its new distillery with an 86 proof single malt partially made of barley grown on Easter Elchies estate, a farm along the edge of the River Spey. The brand said it’ll be available in the U.S., but only for those drawn in an online ballot. Winners have the opportunity to buy the bottle for about $250. The ballot remains open through June 7 and entries can be submitted here.
