A favorite among barkeeps, the ever-dependable Old Overholt Straight Rye Whiskey is cheap and easy to drink, making an ideal candidate for cocktails like the Old Fashioned. Today, it’s produced at the Jim Beam distillery in Kentucky and said to have been the whiskey of choice for presidents Ulysses S. Grant and John F. Kennedy.

If you look for it at the liquor store, you might also spot its new companion bottle: Old Overholt Bonded Straight Rye, a higher-proof version that’s aged four years in accordance with the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897. Expect a little more bite and a touch of extra oak. Rolling out nationwide with a suggested retail price of $25.
