Perhaps nowhere in the home is utility more pronounced, or valued, than the kitchen. But there’s beauty in function, as is the case with Ommo, a line of affordable kitchen wares from Shane Schneck, whose portfolio also includes many beloved designs from Danish brand Hay.
Driving the collection is a confluence of Eastern and Western habits: a donut-shaped tea infuser, for example, that brews directly in your mug, and an everyday bowl that comes with tongs good for mixing salads or shaping bread dough. Last year, three of the products — the tea infuser, as well as a self-draining salad bowl and a modular serving bowl — were winners of Japan’s coveted Good Design Award.
