Satisfy’s First Trail Shoe Could Redefine This Important Feature

And get this, it’s inspired by the tires of high-performance RC cars.

Satisfy‘s highly successful collaboration with Hoka earlier this year kicked up plenty of dirt but now it looks like the French running label is ready to blaze its own trail.

TheRocker, launching next summer, will represent Satisy’s inaugural in-house trail shoe. But it could also be seen as something of a first for trail running at large.

The shoe’s headline feature is a unique outsole pattern inspired by RC-car tires, defined by circular and conical lugs and a 360° Wrap Construction, whereby some extend up the side of the midsole.

Satisfy calls the technology TuneLug and the premise is simple, even if its execution is anything but.

The goal, it says, is to provide multidirectional traction on rugged surfaces, while remaining stable, responsive and durable in “urban environments” — that is, roads and sidewalks, which can chew up the lugs of more technical trainers made for the mountains.

Going the distance

When it releases, TheRocker will also serve as a vehicle to debut Euforia, Satisfy’s take on a proprietary super foam like Nike ZoomX, On Helion HF or Adidas Lightstrike Pro.

Technically speaking, the stuff is a blend of Arkema PEBA and EVA. And though brands’ foams can vary widely in density, amount and application, this specific pairing sounds lightweight, energy efficient and durable, at least on paper, with Satisfy promising performance over “long distances.”

As for the upper, the brand opted here for one constructed from Nova Nylon 66, a high-tenacity material boasting high levels of resilience and breathability. All told, the shoe clocks in at 280 grams for a US size 8.5, with a 32mm stack height and 5mm heel-to-toe drop.

Satisfy has yet to reveal the price of the upcoming super shoe. But if the brand’s sold-out collaboration with Hoka is anything to go by, plenty of runners will be waiting in the wings to purchase TheRocker, no matter the cost.
