It’s rare to find handcrafted quality in a silhouette under a hefty price tag, yet these under-the-radar boxing gloves prove otherwise. I absolutely love the premium leather build of these Byakko boxing gloves showcasing exquisite durability and performance in every strike. Additionally, the padding is great for absorbing impact, creating a safe, secure environment across your hands during training.

Making a fist and holding form with these boxing gloves is also a breeze thanks to an easy-to-grip bar along the fingers and palm. The hook-and-loop wrist wrap is also simple yet secure, although some may find that the profile rides a little high along the forearm. The only true downfall to this diamond in the rough? Color selection. At the time of this reporting, Byakko only offers its impressive boxing gloves in a blue and black hue. I’m sure other designs will be available in the future, though, as this impressive profile starts winning rounds with the likes of combat athletes everywhere.

The T3D silhouette utilizes a unique 3D-printed lattice system for reinvented cushioning, protection and shock absorption. This interior makeup, according to the brand, should be able to outperform and outlast more traditional cushioning materials. While the jury’s still out on its overall durability — the T3D is very young — I can say for certain that there’s a heavyweight presence of comfort and protection in every strike.

The T3D borrows a lot from its T3 predecessor including exceptional wrist support and breathability. The one feature I would have loved to see in this innovative silhouette, though, would be the microfiber thumb that’s featured in the main T3 profile. It’s not an absolute must-have for worthwhile boxing gloves, but the ability to wipe away sweat without the need of a nearby gym towel is a nice perk. Still, if you can justify a near-$350 mitt, it’s tough to beat these innovative silhouettes from one of the sport’s best brands.

I do recommend, however, that you carefully consider the sizing chart, as some gloves have been known to run small, especially for individuals with larger hands.

While I named the Elite series as a favorite for heavy bag work, these premier gloves from Everlast were more than capable in a variety of training regimens as well. The one-piece design allows me to easily form that knockout-ready fist, and when cinched down, the EverShield reinforced wrist proves to be very supportive.

The only issue, however, is the single hook-and-loop closure, which was sometimes difficult to operate for that locked-in feel given the fabric’s tendency to overlap at the hinge. Aside from that, the Everlast Elite series is a great option from one of the sport’s most trusted names.

The wrist cuff does extend a little further down the forearm, and this can lead to some discomfort without that barrier inside. Still, though, if your normal training sees you going toe-to-toe with a fellow athlete, these are a no-brainer for your gym bag.
