From overalls to fanny packs to bucket hats to nylon windbreakers, everywhere you look it seems like the 90s are here for round two. The sneaker world hasn’t escaped that. Today, Adidas launched the POD-S 3.1 shoes, with an upper that’s distinctly in the now and a sole that’s straight out of the 90s. Like most successful Adidas shoes, Boost foam still plays a prominent role in the heel, except now it’s combined with updated 90s technology and materials. High-rebound EVA first appeared in 1995 to provide a fluffy cushion with every forefoot strike. The new EVA compound runs from the toe of the shoe to the midsole. The gap under the arch first appeared in 1989 when Adidas created the point of deflection bridge to help the shoe flex more. All three parts are updated for the current year and combined make a unique sneaker.
